Andres Serrano and Blogging

Hey Guys,

So I posted this story April 19 of a religious fanatic who defaced Andres Serrano's Piss Christ (1987) pics below and for all the posts I've done this is the one that continues to generate replies like this most recent one below:

保守的だけど人柄は誠実で信義に熱いそんな素敵な県民性溢れる金沢の土地で出会ってみませんか?2009年にはユネスコの創造都市に認定された由緒ある金沢へようこそ

He sent it twice.  Any idea what it means, and btw the 'religious fanatic' was a Catholic?  Thank God we're all Baptist here!

Sarah Palin's Bus Tour Sustains Another Casualty

David Mamet Veers Right In New Book: The Secret Knowledge On The Dismantling Of American Culture [nice title but no cigar]

One of Mamet’s favorite books has been Instincts of the Herd in Peace and War, published during the First World War by the British social psychologist Wilfred Trotter, inventor of the term “herd instinct.”

“Trotter says the herd instinct in an animal is stronger even than the preservation of life,” Mamet said. “So I was watching the [2008] debates. My liberal friends would spit at the mention of Sarah Palin’s name. Or they would literally mime the act of vomiting. We’re watching the debates and one of my friends pretends to vomit and says, ‘I have to leave the room.’ I thought, oh my god, this is Trotter! This is the reaction of the herd instinct. When a sheep discovers a wolf in the fold, it vomits to ward off the attacker. It’s a sign that their position in the herd is threatened.”

Mamet runs into the herd instinct every day.

On the left, Mr. Mamet is accused of having ulterior motives for his political shift. The New Republic's Jonathan Chait writes that the story is a familiar, Zionist one: "An increasingly religious Jew with strong loyalty to Israel, he became aware of a tension between the illiberal nationalism of his right-wing views on the Middle East and the liberalism of his views on everything else, and resolved the tension by abandoning the latter." Mr. Mamet calls this a "crock of s—."

Frank Bruni: New York Times' New Op-Ed Columnist

“When the editors of the opinion pages and I began, quite recently, talking about this, none of us ever brought up sexual orientation, and I'm not sure any of us thought much about any kind of milestone. I certainly don't come at this, in my own head, as the gay columnist, just like I didn't see myself as the gay restaurant critic or the gay magazine writer. I was a magazine writer and I was a restaurant critic and I will be a columnist who happens to be gay.”

Uncle Fester Thinks Palin is an "Idiot" and "stupid"!

Gabriele Sherman in New York magazine:

"He thinks things are going in a bad direction. Roger is worried about the future of the country. He thinks the election of Obama is a disaster. He thinks Palin is an idiot. He thinks she's stupid. He helped boost her up. People like Sarah Palin haven't elevated the conservative movement."

Fox's Response:

"I know for a fact that Roger Ailes admires and respects Sarah Palin and thinks she is smart. He also believes many members of the left-wing media are extremely terrified and threatened by her. Despite a massive effort to destroy Sarah Palin, she is still on her feet and making a difference in the political world. As for the 'Republican close to Ailes' for which the incorrect Palin quote is attributed, when Roger figures out who that is, I guarantee you he or she will no longer be 'close to Ailes.' "
